Discipleship Bible Study Groups

SOWIM Discipleship Bible Study Groups are spiritual companion communities centered on Scripture and oriented toward disciple formation.
We believe that spiritual growth requires both the Word of God and mutual companionship.
Therefore, each group moves forward in a steady rhythm of daily reading, weekly walking together, and mutual life-building, growing step by step into disciples who are more like Christ.

I. Core Values of the Bible Study Groups

1. Christ-Centered

Our pursuit is not merely knowledge, but to walk closer with Jesus and become more like him.

2. Rooted in Scripture

With the Bible as the foundation of faith, we emphasize daily reading, reflection, and practice, allowing God’s truth to enter and transform everyday life.

3. Disciple Formation

The goal of the group is to cultivate committed disciples of Christ—those who follow Christ and are able to guide others to grow as well.

4. Walking Together in Community

Through sharing, intercessory prayer, mutual care, and companionship, group members support one another and experience spiritual growth within the community.

5. Leadership Development

We value the training of guides and companions so that each group can lead members into God’s Word in a stable, healthy, and sustainable way.

6. Commitment and Practice

We emphasize living out faith in daily life, bearing witness to Christ through words and actions, and responding to the Great Commission.

II. How Do the Bible Reading Groups Work?

1. Group Structure
  • One Guide (group leader)
  • At least one Companion (providing support and pastoral care)
  • Members participate together and build one another up
2. Meeting Structure
  • One meeting per week (in-person, online, or hybrid)
  • Each meeting includes:
    • Scripture review
    • Group discussion
    • Life sharing
    • Mutual prayer
3. Personal Devotional Practice
  • About 15 minutes of daily reading and reflection
  • This ensures group discussions move beyond knowledge to real-life faith integration
4. Study Approach
  • The group studies one book of the Bible at a time, progressing step by step together
  • Each book typically takes 8–25 weeks to complete, depending on length

III. What Will You Experience by Joining a Bible Study Group?

  • A stronger foundation in biblical truth
  • Greater spiritual support in life’s challenges
  • Being seen, accompanied, and built up within group relationships
  • Growing into a more mature disciple through learning and practice
  • Living out the call of the Great Commission through serving others
