How to Use SOWIM's Bible Study Materials
I. Preparation Stage
- Prepare Materials: Participants need to have a Bible and a copy of the “Discipleship Life Bible Reading” book (either paper or electronic version, whichever is convenient for reading and taking notes).
- Viewing Device: Prepare a device capable of watching videos to scan QR codes in the book or access YouTube to view the on-location filmed videos.
II. Small Group Bible Study Implementation Steps
- Introductory Reading: The leader opens to the unit being studied and reads aloud the introduction for that station, helping participants grasp the learning focus of the scripture passage.
- Pray Together: After reading the introduction, group members pray together, preparing their hearts and inviting the Holy Spirit to help everyone understand the scripture content.
- Watch the Tour Video: By scanning the QR code in the book or visiting SOWIM’s official YouTube channel, watch the scripture background video.
- Segmented Study and Discussion: Each station is typically divided into 3 to 5 titled sections, following this cyclical pattern:
- Take Turns Reading: Members take turns reading that section’s Bible passage, then take turns reading the “Scripture Guide” text in the book.
- Share and Discuss: Based on the prepared “Devotional Reflection and Group Reading Discussion Questions” in the book, everyone shares and discusses the content of that section.
- Proceed Sequentially: Repeat the above steps until all scripture guides and group discussions for that station are completed.
- Summary: The leader reads aloud the final conclusion for everyone.
III. Extended Application
- Outside of small group Bible study time, during the week, encourage brothers and sisters to use the “Go the Extra Mile” unit in the materials for one-on-one or one-on-two discipleship training and mutual accountability, walking together in fellowship through God’s Word.
- The above method of using SOWIM materials and videos can also be applied for personal devotional time.
